The Europilz® shear head is designed to solve your punching problems. Since it provides concealed reinforcement of the concrete slab at the support point, once a Europilz® has been installed, you never know it’s there.
It absorbs part of the support moment, thereby reducing the amount of slab reinforcement required. And it goes without saying that the Europilz® has a technical approval and meets the fire resistance requirements of R120 and beyond.

a shear head to solve punching problems with or without additional punching reinforcement
a bending head for the targeted reduction of slab bending reinforcement above the columns, if this is required for structural reasons, for instance
an opening head for a more convenient arrangement of floor penetrations adjacent to columns
a footing head to reduce the thickness of foundation slabs
a combi-head to do all of the above.

Standard methods of connecting Europilz® to columns in different situations
CONCRETE COLUMNS
Europilz® is placed loosely over the column on the slab formwork.
GEILINGER® COLUMN
Europilz® is welded onto the steel core of the column in the factory. The steel core extends as far as the top edge of the concrete slab. The column is connected above the concrete slab by means of a simple plug-in connection.
STEEL OR COMPOSITE COLUMNS
If we supply the steel column together with the Europilz®, the shear head is normally pre-welded to the column at the factory. The following options are available if the Europilz® is to be connected to the column on site:
Flat slabs enable free horizontal cable and pipe routing unimpeded by downstand beams, drop panels or other obstacles.
Slab penetrations for vertical cable and pipe routing immediately adjacent to the column are also possible with Europilz®. The conduits are routed inside the shear head. Slab continuity is maintained provided that the size of the penetrations remains within a specified limit. All that has to be done is replace the interrupted bending reinforcement. The punching shear verification does not change in any way. It is not possible to include these openings in solid flat slabs without steel shear heads on account of the high concentration of reinforcement.

Europilz® is calculated in accordance with our technical approval Z-15.1-234 from the DiBt based on Eurocode 2 (BS EN 1992-1-1 + NA(UK)) with regard to punching, and the standard series Eurocode 3 (BS EN 1993-1-1 + NA(UK) and BS EN 1993-1-8 + NA(UK)) with regard to steel components. Our method is SCI Assessed.
Verification of punching shear resistance in accordance with BS EN 1992-1-1 + NA(UK):
